This year, the National Stud Farm Topoľčianky celebrated one hundred years of its foundation. During its existence, it experienced the most difficult moments, especially during the two world wars. A number of exceptional horses were born in its premises and at the same time a number of exceptional riders and hippological experts emerged from there. At present, it is unique among all European breeding organizations, mainly due to the breeding of up to five breeds of horses - Lipizzaner, Shagya-Arab, Thoroughbred Arab, Hucul horse and Slovak Warmblood.
National Stud Farm in cooperation with Závodisko š.p. Bratislava organized 1.9. 2021 racing day in Topoľčianky. There were seven races on the program, five of them flat, one wicker obstacles and the main race was the Great Topoľčianska steeplechase at 4100 meters. Excellent conditions, good organization and pleasant weather attracted a large number of spectators and more than 50 competing horses. Detailed results can be found at www.zavodisko.sk
The celebrations of the 100th jubilee continued with the two-day international championship of horse breeds bred in the Topoľčianky National Stud Farm. A total of 160 horses from ten European countries took part in it. Recognized experts at the international level were invited as judges. The general assemblies of the breeders' organizations LIF (Lipizzaner International Federation), HIF (Hucul International Federation) and ISG (International Shagya-Arab Organization) were also present.
The four-day event culminated in a gala program on Saturday, September 4, 2021, which was visited by approximately 5,000 visitors. In addition to the riders and horses of the National Stud Farm, spectators also had the opportunity to watch performances by guests from abroad and the Slovak Riding Police.
The gala program was ceremoniously opened by the arrival of the Music of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, which played the Slovak anthem live. After the opening speeches of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic Samuel Vlčan and the director of the National Stud Farm Michal Horný, Vladimír Jedlovský read the poem "The Prayer of a Horse". Subsequently, the riders of the Topoľčianky National Stud Farm performed a traditional quadrille, but this time in a new coat. A 5-in-hand of shagya-arabs from the Hungarian Bábolna Stud Farm led by Somogyi Józef was presented. The vaulting department of the Topoľčianky National Stud Farm, led by Boris Kodak, presented themselves on a horse Leon with their impressive freestyle in the squad category. The National Stud Farm Kladruby nad Labem and the Austrian Federal Stud Farm Piber presented two 4-in-hands of Kladruby horses and Lipizzaners. The Hungarian stud farm Szilvásvárad also supported the event with its participation. Riders Tamás Mikó and Attila Nagy rode so-called pas de deux - mirror riding in pairs. Subsequently, the spectators could see a 4-in-hand of shagya-arabs from the Topoľčianky National Stud Farm led by Václav Macek and a 4-in-hand of Hucul horses with Ján Bíro. Bálint Bíro demonstrated the original use of Hucul horses with a carrying saddle. Lucia Suchánková presented a 27-year-old Hucul mare under the saddle in an excellent condition, which testifies to the hardness and longevity of the breed. Dressage elegance through a freestyle to music was demonstrated by Michaela Horná with a mare Lorry. As a part of their second entry, the spectators could watch the riders from Kladruby nad Labem National Stud Farm in historical costumes. The stunt group La Pattat from Poland took care of the adrenaline. Miro Dragič, a representative of the Slovenian stud farm Lipica, performed a difficult floor plan on the long reins. Václav Macek opened the performance of the Classical Riding School of Topoľčianky. With his four stallions, he gradually performed the most difficult movements above the ground - capriole, curbette, pesade, levade. In addition to him, other riders with Spanish walk, levade, piaffe or passage also presented themselves. The classic elegance was replaced by the action of Hucul polo from Hungary. In the end, the variability of the program was underlined by the attractive performance of the Slovak Riding Police. After a short break, the audience had the opportunity to enjoy the performance of one of the most famous artistic bodies in Slovakia - SĽUK.
The atmosphere of the whole gala program was really indescribable. We believe that everyone who took part in the celebrations on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the National Stud Farm Topoľčianky left with only positive memories.
